Blog #6

Pertaining to the article that was assigned to read, I believe there were many good points that were addressed that I couldn't have said better myself. I, myself, have talked about this subject before, where older people just need to get with the times.  Generation after generation has had many changes through them and the only way they can adapt, is to just accept them and try to adapt yourself.  I really liked the quote that she used, "the only constant is change".  Without change, we wouldn't improve, we wouldn't learn from our mistakes, and we wouldn't be as informed and connected as we are today.  It really bothers me when older people use the excuse, "I'm old, so I don't understand this stuff.  I like things the way they used to be".  Like the author said in the article, that is just an excuse people use when they don't understand it and won't try to learn.  The technology we have today, as a first time user, is sometimes over...

Blogging

Blogging can be very beneficial with providing information, opinions, expressing feelings others can relate to, entertainment, etc.  In several cases, blogging is very fun and rewarding for both the blogger and the audience.  However, blogging is all of these things, if used appropriately. When we use the word "appropriate", I understand that it is a very controversial subject in defining the line between appropriate and not appropriate.  But, let's have some common sense, putting someone down, talking bad about someone, and spreading rumors, does no good for anyone.  If there is something that people have a problem with, there's no need to be negative.  Instead, providing positive suggestions on how to fix a problem would be helpful.  However, we can't seem to do that.  We get our entertainment by blaming, shaming, and making things up about someone else.  The article provided for us to read for this assignment made many good points.  It's ...

Media System Dependency Theory and Television

When television first came out, there weren't many people to watch what was being broadcasted because there weren't many who owned a television because of how expensive they were.  In order to keep broadcasting, they had to lower the cost of televisions so more people could buy a television, then the number of people watching would go up.  Which leads to more money income and more stations being produced.  Which is how it still is today.  More viewers means more to watch, which means happier customers. Television used to be where families would get together to watch their favorite shows.  Everyone had to make sure to be in front of the TV when their show was coming on or you'd miss it.  People started to depend on the television for weather, news, keeping up with politics, and pure entertainment.  Pretty soon, everyone started to get TV's and it became a very expected technology to have around the house. It brought families together, it kept people in...

Blog #3

As the years go on, people are developing better and better technology that helps us in our daily lives.  Especially, in the class rooms and for doing homework.  I use my computer and my cell phone several times a day for researching and completing assignments. It's an amazing tool that, honestly, I don't know how I would function with out.  Our technology, for and in the classroom, becomes so depended on.  Teachers, now a days, assume that we use these technologies to complete the assignments they give us.  However, there are some technology uses that I still haven't caved into yet.  For example, when taking notes in class, I always right them instead of typing them on the laptop.  I also, prefer the textbook over the online e-books.  It's the same information, but somehow it feels so different.  As far as using technology for research, I believe that it's a very helpful tool.  I definitely don't think that these technologies are maki...
